Try Stampin' Challenge 352

Ok  I guess you could say this is a "late" card.  What happens when your late? In school you might get docked in your grade, in the Dr. office you may have to wait a LONG time or reschedule your appointment, in Try Stampin' on Tuesday the card may not be on their web page.  Now the other thing about this card is that I Did Not follow the sketch!!  BUT I did SORTA follow the Theme: Time to Celebration
It has been snowing here in Ohio and that means celebration time because there is no school.  I know, I know I'm stretching that theme a bit. :0)

It's December and I found I had limited time to work on a card for this time around so I'm posting the card that my senior apartment complex folks are going to make today (Tuesday) unless the snow keeps coming and I don't feel it's safe to  go this afternoon.    I designed it with that in mind though and it could be used in January with a different saying.  Thanks for stopping, and have a Very Merry Christmas!

Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge 351

hello all, I'm hoping this will be okay, I kinda made it from memory of what the sketch looked like it isn't exactly like the sketch but that is what I love about this site, we have the choice and freedom to do it "our way"- It was a quick- mix, match use up things laying on my desk card!!! I found the night of navy card stock with the snowflakes and thought I'd use it for this challenge as I didn't have a lot of time to make something.  Then I scrounged around and found the DSP already cut and added the Early Espresso card stock behind it.  The little wreath is from an OLD Stampin' Up set I stamped a couple times with Garden Green and I added rhinestones (I had colored with a red marker for another project and didn't need all of them). The Merry Christmas is from an old Stampin' Up set also but I just love the font and use it often at Christmas time. Have fun with this sketch it is a good one.  If you didn't come from the Try Stampin' on Tuesday page be sure to check out the other designers cards they are all GREAT.  Just click here and it will take you there. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my vision, Happy Stamping!

Try Stampin' on Tuesday #350

Well here it is, I played around with a couple different ideas and then came up with this. I kinda like it, I do hope you enjoy playing with this sketch.  I did not follow the suggested theme, but remember it is just a suggestion.  Have a great day.

#349 Try Stampin' On Tuesday

It just occured to me that our name allows you to stamp on Tuesday but we as designers have to stamp on a different day so this goes live for you to see on Tuesday :0) So I've said all that to say that I stamp on the other days of the week for these postings, I'm so glad to stamp on any day of the week aren't you?
Having a one and three year old at this stage of my life I'm finding is tiring!  How did I ever do it with 4 at the age of 5 and under?!?! My daughter-in-law is having the extended family for Thanksgiving(around 25-30) so I've been a very hands on Grandma for a couple weeks so she can get some deep cleaning done. Today was an unexpected day to babysit so I'm getting this up at the end of the day.
I really enjoy making easel cards and have had this thought in my head all week and finally got the card done. Now I do hope that you'll join us for this sketch, we sure would love to see a lot of postings!

Here is the sketch to try using if you so desire and the optional theme below. I think I got this one with the silver bells and the easel card both. What do you think?  (I did NOT cut all the jungle bells out by hand :0)  they were cut with a die from Stampin' Up after I heat embossed them with silver.)  What do you think? I probably will Not be mass producing this one even with the die help.  Thanks for stopping by and I'd love to hear from you. By the way Happy Thanksgiving!

94 years young - TSOT #348

Oh Hello!! here we are on Tuesday again with another challenge.  I'm so glad you've stopped by.  My card for this challenge was made for my Mother-in-law who turned 94 last month.  She really loves to watch hummingbirds and has a feeder outside every year.  So in honor of her 94th  birthday I made this card.  I think the sketch is one that could be used so many different ways, be sure to check out all the other designers just click here Try Stampin' to go to the home page.

Challenge # 347 with a little surprise!!

Hello everyone!  It is November, wow has this year ever flown by. Try Stampin is now under new management, we are all sad to see CherylAnn go but really owe her a deep well of gratitude for starting this challenge site and picking us to be on it.  The site will mostly stay as is with possibly a few minor changes.  We do hope that you will keep playing along with us and please let us know if there is something that you like or don't like. We want to keep you with us creating cards and gifts, it really is so rewarding to have someone grateful for the time spent to create for them.

I worked on this card last week and hadn't put it all together when I had a light bulb moment.  I've had this Katherine pop out die for about 4 months and haven't used it yet.  When I was looking at my card thinking it needs something more I realized it would be great with the pop out.  This die can be used with a window card opening like I have here or  without for a greater surprise to the recipient,
I have an inside picture below.  Check out all the other designers and be sure to add your card for this challenge.  (just click the blue word designers and it will take you directly to Try Stampin' site)

Try Stampin' #346 A tribute to my sister

Kathleen, known and lovingly called "Kat" for she loved cats. I think if she could have she just might have had this many!!  ;0)  I really wanted to do a card in her honor my first week back. When I checked out the #346 challenge I though Oh my that is a tough one.  I hope I sorta did it justice, one of the great things about this challenge site is that is is okay to not follow the sketch and theme if something else strikes your fancy.  I started with the cat lady, made a scene by adding a floor and walls.  The name KAT on the right side is sorta there for the "X"s stitched on the left of the sketch.
We hope you'll join us and if it seems to hard just change it up a bit.  Happy Stamping!!

Just click here - Try Stampin' on Tuesday and it will take you to the main page with the designers card samples.  Here is the card sketch and our suggested theme

Stamping Again!!

Tuesday Oct.24th I had my monthly stamp get together with my 4th Tuesday of the month group.
My youngest sister Beth (from Florida flying home from Cincinnati Airport) and I got to my home in Ohio Sunday eve.  I got right to work Monday designing a card for them.  We used re-inkers in 2 different ways.

The first we dropped ink onto cool whip lids and picked up the ink with sponges then sponged color onto glossy card stock (if you drop the ink on the glossy card stock you end up with a dark "dot" where the ink dropped).  Stamped the leaf veins from the Colorful Seasons stamp set (using the photopolymer is so nice you can see through the stamp and pick where you want the colors on your leaf shape) then die cut them out.  This is such a fun technique and you'll never have two alike, like real leaves or sisters!  :0)

The second technique was the baby wipe and re-inkers technique.  Fold an alcohol free baby wipe in half or fourths and then placed them on the cool whip lids to make "stamp pads" Using the smaller solid leaf we used our homemade ink pads and stamped around on the front.  Each of these leaves will also be unique and different.

Everyone received a detail cut leaf cut from the copper foil sheets and copper trim to decorate the front of their card.

Sometimes I'll decorate the inside of the card also(see below).  We cut some smaller leaves from the glossy also. Some of the ladies cut the branch out of the brown layer before assembling their card to use inside. I enjoy doing that just don't always show it here.  Thanks for stopping by, I'm going to get back into this blog more now that things are quieting down some, well I hope it does, I'm worn Out!! Have a good day and remember to do something crafty everyday!! just because it is fun and so rewarding.  Even in her hospital bed Kathleen was doing her plastic canvas making gifts for others.

She fought the good fight

If there is anyone that has been looking and keeping up with my little blog here I just want to thank you for looking. Thought I'd give an update on my sister.  She left this old world and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.  She will be missed but never forgotten!!!  She had a loving spirit and was a super gift giver up to the end.  She loved crafting, card making, scrapbooking, beading  and especially plastic canvas which she did a lot while laying in the hospital bed.  Thank you for your prayers during this tough last 6 months.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge 341

Hello all it is so good to be back sharing with you.  I love this sketch, the long panel on the front lends itself to so many different possibilities! I find it a challenge :0) to have a lot of layers on a card like last weeks sketch. But then that is why they are given the name challenge, it is good to stretch ourselves.  I did make a card for last week, if you haven't seen it check it out and let me know what you think!

This is a new stamp set from the Holiday catalog - Stampin' Up. I fell in love with it when I first saw it and now that I've checked out all the samples on pinterest  I'm really sold. You will be seeing more of this set.

BOLD WORDS is the optional theme.

Try Stampin' challenge 340

OH MY GOODNESS!! I can not believe it has been so LONG since I've posted.  My life has been just crazy the last couple months. Working part time, helping with Mother-in-law care, garden and canning, helping with sister that has leukemia. Three of the four took me out of the house. I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever enter my craft room again.  The work side is done now, I'm still heading out for care giving (away from home and out of town) but I am a LITTLE bit free.
Enough of all that, you came to see a card, I decided to try out a new Stamp set from Stampin' Up I ordered, I saw somewhere that Christmas is less than a 100 days 😱 yikes maybe we all better get busy with that little/big undertaking. I usually pick a pattern or two I like and make multiple cards. I'm still looking and trying out stamp sets.

Try Stampin 330

Wow it is already just about the middle of July!!  I knew that July was going to be busy for me so stamping is taking a back seat on my time.  I did get this card done I used this floral hello from the top of my desk.  I colored it some time ago but never made a card with it, time was limited so I hope you all will forgive me for using something that I had already stamped and colored . I turned the card so that the hello would fit across it and then put the three banners below.  The two background banners were made from washi tape. The background seemed to need something so I added glitter glue on it and smeared it around with my finger.

Thank you for stopping by - I do hope you have checked out all the other designers, their cards are lovely.  What have you stamped this past week?  Add it onto the Try Stampin Page and let us see.

Try Stampin' #329 Sending Love

I  decide to use a new stamp set and Designer series paper for this lovely layout.  I did alter it a bit in that I turned it 90 degrees so I could use the fabulous large sentiment that came in this set.... Hello Friend is the name, the DSP that I used is actually part of the Daisy Suite.  I guess the optional theme - Dainty and Neat could be interpreted many different ways.  How would you make a card with that theme?  Try it and enter your wonderful creation, work of art.  Someone will love to receive a homemade card that you made just for them.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous #2

Hello, I guess I didn't have this entry to go live when I said I would!!!  That's what happens when a person who doesn't normally work full time ends up doing just that.  It has given me a better appreciation for all those who have to work then do house work and still want to stamp.  I find myself exhausted and I haven't been doing near as much stamping as I want, especially with the new catalog going live!! AND new stamps, dies and embossing folders to play with.

This is the second card my group made with the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and die bundle. They did real well with it and liked both cards. The die is shown on the next image for the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by, my work schedule should be getting lighter in about a month or two.  I can only hope since the garden and fruit will be coming on soon!  Have a lovely day.

Try Stampin #327 BOLDS!!!

Here I am again using this card sketch for two purposes. I decided to use the bolds and only used two colors that are in the new in-color line up.  Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist    I have a card class coming up and a manly card w as requested.  This card really could be used for anyone but definitely thought it fit the bill for a man.  What do you think?  My group makes two cards each month and if you come back tomorrow you can see the other card, made with the same stamp set; Happy Birthday Gorgeous.  My DT card for challenge 325 used the die that comes with this set.  I really wanted to show the ladies and gent that this set was quit versatile.

Try Stampin #326 Let's get Fishy

When your a crafter it is not impossible to find time to do what you love! even when it seems life is pulling you from all directions.  That is me right now, I'm not complaining just realizing that I can find time to stamp and enjoy it even with all that is happening right now.  Just in case anyone is reading this text and following/praying, my Mother-in-law is back in the hospital.  Thank you so much for letting me vent a minute.  Ok enough of that!

My card today is two fold, First made for Try Stampin and second for Fathers Day - it's right around the corner.  Hoping to go see my father, will you be going to see yours?  My dad has a large fish tank so when I saw this Theme I decided to do something fish related.  Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you'll join us - even if your life seems crazy find a minute or two to do something you love!!!

I moved and changed the placement of a few elements for this card but I believe I included everything that this sketch has. ( Psst.....You don't have to if you just want to stamp and not use this sketch though.)

Old and New for Try Stampin # 325

Hey I'm back but just for a quicky....When I first saw the theme for this card sketch I immediately thought Flowers,..  Isn't that summers splendor?  But to all in the Stampin' Up Family June and summer means a new catalog which means new stamps, dies accessories, and 5 new In Colors.

So as I sat at my desk thinking "this needs to be quick Vicki"  I decided to use old and new. This card is show casing one of the new in colors called Lemon Lime Twist. I picked it because it reminds me of summer.   :0)      When I help in the hay field there are little green moths flying around.

The old I used was the fluttering textured impressions embossing folder, rhinestones, and the bold butterfly framelits dies.  The new is the Lemon Lime Twist card stock and for the inside an absolutely must have for all a new die called Happy Birthday Thinlits Die.  It is lovely so nice and big- this one will be a winner!!

I'm thankful that you stopped by, I do hope you have enjoyed all the inspiration of the others on the team.  We all love to hear from you so if you have a moment leave us a little word. Were you inspired by something we made?

For any who saw a previous post on my sister with leukemia, she went home on June 1 the Doctors are saying she is in remission.  She will have three follow up treatments for prevention purposes. Thank you for your prayers. Have a wonderful week.

Try Stampin #322 How Sweet it is!

Another great sketch and theme. For this one I turned the sketch and put a lot of different cut out stamps on at different dimensions.  I used a set that was in the Occasions Catalog that I love since I bake a good bit sadly it did not get added to the new 2017-2018 catalog.  Living with 4 Sons and Husband meant lots of cookies, they are all grown now and working and my baking hasn't stopped.  I now bake cookies for their lunches and put in baggies in the freezer.  These cookies are restricted to lunch boxes!!!  Cookies in tupperware container are allowed to be eaten in evenings.... BUT I say....when they're gone they're gone!!!!  (Till the Sat. when I once again bake for the following week)   :0)                     (we raise chickens - alas the brown eggs)

Well you didn't come to read about all that, thanks for stopping and I do hope you'll join us in stamping.  (sketch card and theme below mine)

If you didn't come from the Try Stampin' page click here   - it will take you directly to the blog where you can see all the cards by those on the design team, a lot of different, amazing cards!!

Try Stampin #321

Hi, My garden was growing, now everything is trying to learn how to swim!!!  In the past week we have had over six inches of rain!!!  We have two gardens and the one is lower so that is where my plants are swimming.  We may have to replant some potatoes if they rot because of standing in water for so long  :0(    We are covering the strawberries as they are calling for frost tonight and tomorrow, I really don't want to loose them this will be my first year to pick and they are looking really good and have berries already hanging on.

Here is our suggested theme and sketch,  I love flowers and decided to put that in the center of the card the flowers have a vellum overlay on them that had the small silver hearts on it. After I finished it I thought I should have used a strawberry set that I have and put three n at different stages of growth. Oh well maybe I'll make that later. Thanks for stopping, if you didn't come from the Try Stamping site you should go an see all the designers cards they are awesome!!!

Try Stampin #320 May Days

hello, another week has gone by and it was a busy one for me. I worked everyday at my part time job and I sure was glad to see Friday roll around..:0)

I was glad to get to my craft room today - Sat. -while I did some baking for next week and worked around the house.  I'll be heading to see my sister on Sunday.  The Dr.s are pleased with how well she is responding to the treatment.  Thank you for your prayers.

This card is  a first for me as the only stamping it has on it is the sentiment.  The background paper is designer paper from the Sale-a-bration catalog, I colored it with the watercolor pencils and used a blender pen on it to smooth it out. The  blue I added to the top piece started getting a little fuzzy from to much rubbing so I stopped and decided it was fine as it. You can't see in the picture but I put some clear wink of stella on the dragonflies wings.

THANK you for stopping by I do hope you'll join us and share with us your creation using this sketch and theme if you choose.

Try Stampin on Tuesday #319

Life throws us challenges everyday, but some are more challenging than others.  Our challenges could be like that, some harder than others but it's always fun to see what everyone comes up with. 😉
This is a card I made a few months back, please forgive me for not making a new one, I've been out of town. Just found out one of my sister has  aml leukemia. Now that is a challenge!!! They will be starting chemo as soon as they get her heart settles down.

It is sorta round don't you think??? I made this card with the windows think die, it will fit nicely in an A-2 envelope. It has a rubber band on the inside so when it's pulled out it pops together. The picture above shows me holding it flat. The die is altered a bit so that it folds up over the back panel and lays flat for mailing.
Thanks for stopping and if you would, please send a prayer or two up for my sister Kathleen. I believe in God, He is always with us even during the hardest challenges life send our way.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday # 318

Hey there, it's that time again.  Now I do hope that you've been finding time to stamp and have some fun, relax, and be creative.  I've been stamping but just not posting for a while, our internet is limited and I used a lot last month in the Magnolia March Madness on you tube with the Tilda stamps, I believe there is a video in a previous link if your interested.  Well on to Try Stampin!!

We have a fun sketch and theme if you decide to use it.  It can be a challenge sometimes but that is good for us, it makes us a better stamper if we try to go outside of our comfort zone-our usual.  I guess that's why we have the sketch challenge and encourage you to use it.  (but remember you don't have to...we just want you to stamp!!!)

Our theme is : A Trio of Words
My take on this...  :0)
This was a quick easy card to make, some might recognize the supplies as from the April Paper Pumpkin from Stampin' Up.  If you don't know what that is it is a card/project kit that comes to your house once a month.  It has ALL the supplies in it that you need to make the projects, this month that meant 12 cards.  But there is always a little extra in supplies that you can use on other creations.  The kit comes with directions on how to make the suggested projects if you like them and want to copy.  It is a prepaid subscription which they send out on about the 10th of each month.  If you would be interested I could help you find out more about this great opportunity,  ;0)     just leave me a message and I'll get back with you. (or if you have a demonstrator I do know that she would be more than happy to help you.)

Thank you for stopping and have a great day - it will be great if you get to stamp even just a little bit!!

A Burst of color - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #316

I decided to use the suggested theme literally and use my new color burst powder! I had every intention of going with three flowers, like the sketch had three around the sentiment but thought it needed more flowers. I'm still learning how to use this new product but I like how the background turned out. What do you think?  Thanks for stopping by and if you would be so kind and have a minute or two please leave me a comment, thanks. Happy stamping 😄

Extra Try Stampin Challenge #315

Had a card to make for a card class on Tuesday and thought I might as well follow Try Stampin's challenge.  Turned out nice I think and I hope the ladies enjoy it.  Be sure to check out the inside as it has a pop out.  I used the Balloon Adventure bundle in the Stampin' Up Occasions Catalog. This is such a wonderful bundle as it can be used so easily for anyone!!  I've got more from this set so stay tuned.
click here if you haven't come from the Try Stampin' site and you can go see all the other designers cards.  If  you have come from Try Stampin' thank you for stopping by, I so love to hear from those who come and really do read all the comments.  SOOOO if you would be so kind could you find it in your heart to leave me a few words?!   Have a wonderful week and I'll be back so stay tuned :0)

Have you ever made your own DSP paper? I have a few times, there’s a YouTube channel called Artful Stamping with Ruth that I enjoy watching...
