Try Stampin' on Tuesday #302

Hello all, I've been AOL for a few weeks, sorry.  I hosted Thanksgiving at my house and with a big 'ol boot on my broken ankle that I couldn't put much weight on it made doing everything harder.  I will say that the knee walker/roller that I had was nice and I'm really glad it wasn't in a cast!!!  Then the week after I was called into work for a gal that needed the week off.  A desk job that I was able to put foot up on another chair but it really wore me out, since I had to use the regular walker.   How's that for an excuse  ;0)

I've been working on Christmas cards, pulled all the extras out from past years, some done others not which I'm finishing.  :0)     This card for the challenge #302 will work for someone this year.

I turned the panel since my snowflakes were to big for the other direction.  They are an old die from Stampin' Up that I haven't used in quit a few years, don't forget about all the old things you have. Pull them out and they will seem like something new to use again. (smile)  You can't see it in the photo but I used some glitter glue on the snowflakes and they are really pretty.  The Let it SNOW stamp is one that I got in a card magazine I bought one year.  I do hope you'll give this one a try, here is the sketch and the theme is snowflakes!  How about that  ;0)       Happy Stamping!!!

Try Stampin' #298 (flub up)

Okay I really blew it this time on following the sketch and theme.  I really thought I remembered what the sketch sorta looked like and went with it. Goodness know where I came up with what was in my head but it is NOTHING like the sketch!!!  My only excuse is that I'm still laid up with this bum ankle and didn't recheck it before going to craft room and starting to stamp.

Every year we raise turkeys for Thanksgiving.  They are butchered the Wed. before and that way we have fresh turkey, no preservatives, no additives no......     We grind our own feed and they are also out on pasture some.  I am the host for my side of the family for Thanksgiving dinner which is celebrated the Sat. after Thanksgiving.  Yep it will be a challenge this year, we've had as many as 30 here in the past but thankfully our number will be down considerably this year.  I usually do Turkey and dressing and everyone else brings the rest of the fixin's.  I made this card to send out with the dinner list.

I would like to make another card sometime with the sketch as I think it would be a great one, just didn't have time before I needed to get this up on the blog.  Now remember if you have stamped something share it with us, even it it doesn't match up it's all about having fun and getting us to stamping.

Here is the intended sketch and the theme is Gate fold card  ( as I said earlier ??? where did I come up                                                                                                                           with my sketch???)
Have a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends, it is a wonderful time of the year to remember all the good the Heavenly Father has done for us!!  (even with a broken ankle!! I could have broken my neck!! )  Bye Now

Last Holiday card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday, challenge #295

I have so enjoyed making Christmas cards for the challenges this month,  I have a variety in my Christmas card file now :0)
If your following our blog hop, welcome, you've probably come from the terrific stamper Jayme  http://www.closetstampin.blogspot.com/  Thanks for coming along with us on this Hop  :0)  Just a reminder to leave comments on EVERY BLOG to be entered in the final drawing.

I decided to make two cards with this sketch.  This first one is more fancy and the second is a cute"y" card.

Sketch to try                                                                                                     Optional Technique:  Add Dimension

I tried a new technique on this - embossing with a die cut.  You can see that on the green piece. To begin this process lets set up the big shot.  You will need two cutting plates and a rubber embossing piece.  Open the platform up all way and put a cutting plate down then the embossing rubber.  Lay the card stock on this and now it's time to get your die ready.  I tapped an embossing buddy over the die then added with a VERY LIGHT hand the versa mark ink.  Remember to use a very light hand on this as you only want the versa mark ink on the raised part of the die.  Very carefully lay the die cut side down on the card stock (once it is down do NOT move it as it will smear the versa ink)   Add your top cutting plate then run through.  Carefully remove the die from your paper and you'll notice that it has made an groove but did not cut clear through.  Now take embossing powder and add over your card stock  liberally so that it gets down in the grooves where we added the versa mark on the die.  Tap off and then heat set.  This is especially lovely with very intricate dies and will give you another way to use them.
The die I used is called Holly Whisper from Anna Griffin
Our Daily Bread:  Chickadee stamp and die - cut out and popped up for dimension.
Card Stock from Stampin' Up: Always Artichoke, Black,  Whisper White
Colored with an assortment of Copic Markers
Accessories: Stampin' Up; Copper embossing powder, and Copper Metallic Thread
(Jennifer McGuire has a video on this technique and if I've done everything right you can click on her name and it will take you directly to the video.)

Second Card:  much easier and quicker

I picked up this stamp from a garage sale for my sisters Christmas card, she is a cat lover and I know she will think it is cute!!   I colored it with copic markers then on the back side I distressed the head and body of the snowman so I could add foam behind it to add dimension.  ( the card stock crinkled a bit on the left side when I added it all to the designer paper. I used a strong tape and tried to get close to the outside of the snowman and under the cat head.)
Card Stock; Soft Sky, Whisper White
Stamp from C. C. Designs - Roberto's Rascals - Grouchy Snowman DSP - retired Stampin' Up
ribbon from scrap pile  :0)

I hope you've enjoyed these two very different cards and that they inspire you to do some stamping!!!  Now it's time to head over to   Sara Levins  -    http://theartfulinker.com/

Be sure to add your card on the main page for Try Stampin on Tuesday or Not    or on the facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1624326894466151/
Have a wonderful day Hopping around seeing all the great inspiration from the designers.

Card Stock;  Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Copper Foil Sheet  (kinda hard to see it's behind the basket piece on top and left side)

Thanksgiving bounty

Here is another easel card, I did tell you I enjoy making this kind of card  :0)   This one has a twist to it, it is a stair step easel card.

This stamp set is from the Stampin' Up holiday catalog, Basket of Wishes.  I'm a gardener so this one appealed to me, it has three different baskets and four different filler stamps.  It also has four different sayings that are so nice for the whole years use.  The strip below the leaf piece was made with the Seasonal Decorative Masks also from the holiday catalog.  I used one of the others in a previous post here.  They are so easy to use to make background papers. I like to attach them with washi tape to a scrap piece of card stock on two sides, usually left and bottom, then when I want to sponge on color I just slip my piece in and hold it down either with fingers or a small piece of washi tape.  It really helps keep the card stock I'm coloring to stay put and not move around.  Clean up with a baby wipe/ damp paper towel works great and it can be used over and again.

Ahead of myself

Oh my I just realized that I had Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenges 293 and 294 come up on the same day. I guess I was a little confused when I added these posts.  So that means you can have extra time to come up with a great card for challenge 294  :0)

I made it to my craft room again to get a Late Birthday Card done for a brother in law.  I have lately enjoyed using some of the Art Impression Watercolor stamps. I enjoy making easel cards, that way they can be set up. I add a piece of card stock to the back side soI have a place to jot a note and let them know how the card works  This one I followed a tutorial on You Tube for.  Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by.

Try Stampin On Tuesday challenge 294

Hello everyone, I do hope you have had a good time with all the Christmas ideas that have been coming out this month.  My life has taken a drastic change, what do they say...one never knows what tomorrow will bring!!    On October 1st I fell down my front steps and broke both bones in my left ankle.  I have since had surgery, I'm now part bionic woman :0)  (ankle of  screws and a long plate)  I am non-weight bearing for the next 4-6 weeks!!!  (I worked ahead on the last 2 weeks challenges and had them done and preposted)

I'm so glad this little penguin hasn't broken his flipper!!  I had to make this card from memory as I had finally gotten to my craft room only to realize that I couldn't get my lap top in there with me to remind myself what the card layout was.  I did not do any piercing sorry.  I'm now in my queen (only female in this house, my birth name) Victoria "throne" lazy boy chair with my foot up, after working for an hour and a half  I was ready to get it up.  It is after 6 now and help has arrived to get me situated with the lap top.  Here is the card suggested layout I didn't do to bad at remembering, I think.   :0)       Try Stampin On Tuesday Holiday challenge 294

My card:  There is a little shaker on this card filled with snowflakes and a bit of glitter.  Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you'll give this fun sketch a try!!
Thanks for letting my ramble above about life and the interesting ways it can change.  I am thankful that I wasn't hurt any worse and that the pain hasn't been terribly bad. I'm blessed that our two  Families have stepped up to be of assistance.  God is good!!!!

Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge # 293

Hello again, this is the third card for this challenge month, have you been following along?  I hope you've been entering some of your own creations!  This sketch seemed a bit full when I first saw it but then after some contemplation I came up with a card that I really like. The theme is A Touch Of  Fabric - so I used real fabric on this card, wonder if you can spot it.  I turned the card since my stamped piece needed to be larger.

The green piece is really fabric, I frayed the edges then I cut two pieces of card stock and taped them behind the piece and ran it through the Big Shot.  Thanks for stopping by, have you been to Try Stampin' On Tuesday's site?  If not check out all the other creations from the design team by clicking on their name above.  You can enter your own card there also.  Thanks for stopping by.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday #292

Well this is the second card for our special month of stamping.  Have you joined us yet?We would love to see what you do with the theme/sketch or your own idea!!  You do not have to follow the suggested theme and sketch we just want you to create and if something we post inspires you then by all means go for it!!  Here is the sketch and our theme this week is Tag Along.  I have had fun pulling out some of my older Christmas stamp sets.
This stamp is old but the rest is current.  I used the new copper embossing powder for the dove and then the copper foil behind is embossed with the stars folder.  I'm thinking I need to add something to the "tag" below the dove, maybe. What do you think?

If you didn't come from Try Stampin' be sure to click on their name and it will take you to our home blog and you'll be able to see all the other designer cards.

Click here Try Stampin' if you want to go directly to the blog with samples from other designers.  Hope I can keep up :0)
Here is the first October sketch and the theme is Weaving

I decided to turn my card 90 degrees and here is what I came up with, It was fun to make and somehow just came together.  I used one of the first Christmas Stampin' Up stamp sets I ever bought it is called Christmas Gift Tags.  A set of 8 that I've used many times, here I stamped and cut out the the stockings to add to the bakers twine. The background is weaved designer sheets.  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the month long celebration.

The Holidays are Coming!!! and Try Stampin' On Tuesday # 290

Sometimes when I'm putting together a new blog for the holiday/ Christmas theme I feel like I'm rushing the year, we haven't had Thanksgiving yet!! The good side of this is that I'm getting many different Christmas cards done ahead of time. Have you begun yet? This will be new for me as I usually pick 2/3 designs and mass produce to send out.

Our theme is the Holidays are Coming;  are you one of those who love to decorate for the holiday?  What is the first thing you put out/up?  I'm more into the Thanksgiving season as my entire family comes then.    That being said, one of the first things I put up is the Christmas Tree.

sketch #290
If you look closely you can see the details on the dark blue piece - stampin' up - embossing folder.  The small dark blue piece with the snow flakes is actually done with an old wheel and craft white, remember them?   I used  Flower Soft - Polar White for the snow flakes around the tree.  Note to self and others, be sure your ink is GOOD and dry as the flower soft at the base of the trees has a greenish tint to it  :)        lastly I used some small plastic type snowflakes on the light blue piece to the right of the tree.  The Merry Christmas was heat embossed .

Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to hear from you, what do you think of my card based on the sketch, I usually try to follow the sketch and theme but you can do/use anything.  Happy Stamping!

Try Stamping #288 Autumn Colors

Don't you just love Autumn?  I do, the cooler weather and the colors are just two of my favorites.  When I saw  the theme- Autumn colors I just knew I'd need to do a tree.  I've been playing around with water coloring and this is a new stamp I wanted to try.  The background is a Stampin' Up product in the new Holiday Catalog - Homemade for the Holidays Sept. 1, 2016 - Jan. 3, 2017. Wow did I really just type 2017, how fast time does fly by!!!  Seasonal Decorative Masks pg. 43 for $6.00 4 different patterns, many different uses and backgrounds to make, I really liked this one!  I placed the stencil over the card stock then sponged the colors on starting from the lightest to darkest.  I love Love LOVE this- it just called for a tree with fall colors!!! (I turned the sketch so my tree would fit.)

Here is our sketch and as I said earlier our Theme is Autumn Colors.  Do you have a spare minute or two, or three  :0)   Why don't you play with us, we would love to see what you can create with this theme and sketch.  But is you'd rather use a different sketch or theme that's okay.  Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by and checking out Vicki's Vision.

stamping with Carole #2

Here is the second card that I finished after stamping with Carole.     This mail box stamp is from Judith Stamps, Carole bought it and we added the vine climbing the post.  I had bought the little letter stamp and decided I wanted to put in the mail box.  Do you get/send snail mail?   There is nothing better than letting someone know that you've thought of them and made them a card to let them know.  I need to do better at sending cards for just that reason.  In this high tech world don't forget to do this!!   :0)
Wishing die is from Simon Says Stamp- I cut it out three times and then layered it up.  Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your day. (maybe stamping!!)   :0)

New blessing and stamping for Try Stamping #286

okay I hope you'll indulge me I'm a proud grandma!!!  We have a girl!

Ater 4 terrific sons and 1 wonderful grandson and now we have a girl!!  She is named after my mother- Gwendolyn  (who is watching over us from above,  My mother has been gone since 2001 and I miss her still.) and her Great Grandmother Rhoda Mae.   I had to cry when my son told me her name on Wed. the 17th the day of her birth.

I made this paper to wrap the gift I made for her, I love to crochet and this is project was started YEARS ago when I was expecting my last son.  (I know that doesn't sound like I love to but I do and have made many blankets, booties, kitchen towels and.... down through the years)  After Philip was born I put it up and forgot all about it.  When the kids told us we were having a girl I remembered that I had started a dress and went hunting. (We knew it was a girl but they kept the name a secret.)

OK, OK  I know your not here for all that!!!  (but thanks)

Try Stamping on Tuesday challenge site is a wonderful one to be a part of and I do hope you'll play along.  Here is the sketch and our suggested theme. If you click on the Optional Theme it will take you directly to the Try Stamping web page.

Try Stamping on Tuesday #282

Hello everyone how are you?  I have to say that I'm HOT!!!  so this challenge gave me the chance to think of cooler temps.  We have had it really hot here in Ohio and since I have no AC and live in an old farm house AND I'm in the middle of canning season I'm really really hot!!!

Challenge #282 sketch is one that I haven't used before so it was a challenge.  I think I nailed this
on both the sketch and the suggested theme.  I chose the - anything holiday theme.
Optional Technique:  Beading / Anything Holiday Related

I used this cute old Stampin Up set: Snow Much Fun
Card Stock; Dapper Denim, Smokey Slate, Whisper White, Glossy white
Markers for coloring in details on images
Banners die, stamp dimensionals, softly falling embossing folder

Well that's it.  I might have a nice variety of holiday cards to send this year as it has been decided that we'll be having more holiday themes.  Now let's see what you can come up with for this sketch and theme.  Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to know what you think of my Vision of this theme and sketch.

One sheet wonder #1

Not  sure what happened with this posting but it didn't go live, sorry. If you've been looking for it here it is!!  :0)
I decided to challenge myself and make a one sheet wonder pattern and cards.
Now you may be asking yourself - What Is That?  Let me show you - here is the 8.5 x 11 paper layout. I took a piece of  card stock and stamped my pattern randomly on it. It's like making your own DSP. Then I decided on the cuts and made cards with them. I love this new stamp set - Love and Affection pg. 45 in the Stampin' Up caty.  There is a matching Floral Affection Textured Embossing Folders two small folders that match this set!  I decided to use only two colors  Sahara Sand and Dapper Denim.  You could use any colors for the card stock and inks with what ever stamp set you have!!!  the sky is the limit - we'll maybe your stamp supplies, but hey get creative and use your imagination.  If you do decide to try something like this let me know - leave your web page, blog name ... I'd love to see what you came up with.

My pattern layout ( I didn't get a picture of the page after stamping)
I used a piece of typing paper to draw the layout.

Card 1
I cut the 4 x 4 piece at an angle then sponged around it and the card base. Adhered it to the top and bottom of the Sahara Sand base.  I stamped the saying in the center and added a couple stamped flowers.

                                                               Card 2
This 4 x 5.25 piece was easy to used. Sponged again around it with Dapper Denim. Embossed the top S. Sand piece added my sentiment put that on a D. Denim piece cut a

Try Stampin On Tuesday #280

Hey why don't you Try Stampin on Tuesday????    :0)

You know it's okay to Try even if it isn't Tuesday.  :0)      This is a 2 week challenge sketch with the theme of Splash, I had fully intended to use both the sketch and theme, had a card pictured in my mind but life happens sometimes.  My 92 yr. old mother in law landed in the hospital.  As of this post typing she is doing well and should be going home soon. (By the way - she is amazing she still cleans house for a couple of  people, works in the garden, and is so giving and helpful to her large family.)

I quickly put this card together and followed the sketch only.  That is one of the reasons I like this site, you have the freedom to use or not use what is posted.  Here is the sketch used for the next 2 weeks, if you so choose.

Here is my Vision of this wonderful sketch, ( I may yet have to make the other card that is still floating around in my head)   :0)

Vertical Greetings Stamp Set
Card Stock:  Mint Macaron, Whisper White
Ink:  Brown, Sweet Sugarplum, Delightful Dijon  Craft White(rolled the circle in this to make it stand out a bit)
Extras:  Blooms and Bliss DSP,   In Color Enamel Shapes, Petal Burst Embossing Folder

Well that's it for now, I do love reading comments so let me know what you think of my take on this great sketch, and thanks for stopping by Vicki's Visions

Flourishing Phrases bundle

This new stamp set and thinlits dies bundle is a beauty!!  I really love all the different occasions it can be used for. (The font has a nice mix to give it some character.)  The thinlit set has 10 different dies that really are lovely!!   I used three of the dies, the one on the front matches the big stamp in the stamp set.  I cut multiples and layered them to make it have more depth.  The strip behind it is the new embossing folder called Petal Burst.  I used two new in colors, Emerald envy and Peekaboo Peach.  If you keep scrolling down you'll see that this is an easel card (the other two dies are shown inside) and will stand up when opened.  thanks for stopping by.
