TSOT challenge #360 Easter

It is mid-March and we will soon be celebrating Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday therefore our theme for this two weeks will be Easter.  I chose a card for celebrating the risen Jesus, my Savior and Lord. I did not follow the card lay out on this, as you know it isn't a requirement for entering our challenges. I do hope you'll join the challenge - the card layout and or the theme.  We would love to see a card from many of you.

TSOT Challenge #359

Happy early Saint Patrick's Day I know that's not till Sat, on the 17th.  Our suggested theme for this one is Green and I thought that was probably due to St. Patrick's Day.  I did use green but it isn't a true green. I used my color burst to do this background and thought it had enough green in it for this challenge. I mounted it on Lemon Lime Twist which is an In-Color in the Stampin' Up catalog. If you look closely at the background you'll see that I ran it through my big shot with the layered leaves embossing  folder.  Water colored the flower which is from the Lots of Happy Card Kit in the 2018 Occasions Catalog. I wish many of you would join us on our challenges, and if you do tell a few friends about us also.  We would love more participation!!  We've branched out to Instagram and also have a Pinterest page.  Let others know we are here and that we have a fun challenge every week that runs for two week so that gives you lots of time to make a card.  See you at Try Stampin' on Tuesday

Tic Tac Tuesday #2

I enjoy this challenge, it gives you some guidelines but freedom also.  I had so much fun that I made a few cards and then had to decide which one to use! Here is the one I decided on I'll post a few of the others at the bottom of this posting.

I used a stamp set from the Sale A Bration catalog- Love You Still, have you had the chance to look at all the goodies in that one?  There were so many that I liked and I had to pick and choose which ones to get.  I thought this would be a nice one as it was a bit different than any in my stash.
To make it I inked it up with early espresso avoiding the grassy area at the base of the arch. You won't see in this picture I also have turned the arch on it's side.   I then cleaned the stamp and inked it again just putting ink on the top half where the flowers are then lined up the "posts" and stamped to make a flowered frame.  This will be much easier when my stamparatus arrives, I'm anxiously awaiting!!  I cut it out and adhered to a piece of wood textures DSP, then bordered that onto early espresso card stock then onto sweet sugarplum card stock base that I had stamped and then ran through the big shot with the leaf embossing folder.  The sweet sugarplum is a light purple and I used  fresh fig to color the big flowers on the frame, added calypso coral to give a little pop.
                  Tic Tac Tuesday

This card could follow two paths, bottom left to upper right - purple-flowers-glitter- glitter glue accent on flowers doesn't show up.   the middle down - coloring-flowers-scallops  cut frame sorta has a scallop shape from the flowers don't you think?)  Thanks for stopping by don't forget to check out the other goodies I made and the other designers cards.  Have a happy day and do something that relaxes you and makes you happy - for me stamping is one of my favorites, how about you?

March Technique - Embossing

Hello all, we here at TSOT have another technique for you, it will run for the whole month of March!!!
Let's all get a little "bossy"  and do some embossing.  :0)   If you don't know how to emboss please, please, please go to the Try Stampin on Tuesday page to find detailed directions on how this wonderful addition to stamping is done.   Chris is our teacher and she has done a wonderful job with her instructions.

I have done both types of embossing on this - heat embossed the anchor and the anchor ahoy banner.
The background is dry embossed and I used some color burst to add character to the water area. (color burst is the same type of powder as the brusho that Stampin' Up now sells)

You might look at this card and say - OH that is a lot of fussy cutting!!!!  But let me tell you a secret - I didn't!!!  Last year I purchased a Scan n Cut so I could quickly cut out stamped images that didn't have die cuts to match. Yes it was a bit pricey but I felt it was worth it (and I just had to do something with all the $$ I made from working so much). Now I can cut out any image that I can stamp and that puts a happy face on me.  (The machine actually cut all the images in about 2 minutes.)  Thanks for stopping by if I can be of any help or answer any questions you might have just leave it in the comments and I'll get back with you.    Should I get "bossy"?   Go get to embossing a card and join us!!!   please.  :0)

Challenge 358 Flowers

Our sketch today is one that I believe lends itself to many ways of using it.  The three circles on the right side can be changed up and that is just what I did.  I'm wondering what your take on this card will be?  Hope you join in and enjoy making something with flowers.

Stamp set - Hello Friend      (All supplies are Stampin' Up)
Ink - Marina Mist, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst,
Card stock - Whisper white, Copper foil
Extras - Copper and White embossing powder
FYI - to make the background I embossed with the white then smashed the marina mist stamp pad on my stamping mat, spritzed it with water then tapped the whisper white piece into the ink till I had the look I wanted. Heat set to dry not because I had to but because I didn't want to wait for it to dry.  Since I didn't use water color paper and the whisper white is thinner I did have to put books on top of my piece to flatten it out so maybe I should have used water color paper oh well it worked  I just used plenty of adhesive behind it. I just love how that back ground came out with all the different shades of blue and really like all the white spots in it. I know I say it every week but be sure to check out all the other Designers, we all all different and that is what makes it so fun - seeing how everyone uses this sketch.  just click HERE and you'll be taken directly there.

Waterfront Stamp Set - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

Oh my I so love this stamp set!!!  I have so many cards that I send to ALL the men in this family and this stamp set has made it so easy to make masculine cards.  Every now and again I'm going to post one and not necessarily write up anything for it. Some of these cards will be ones that I looked at on pinterest and will CASE - if your not familiar with this it means Copy And Share Everything. This first card though is my original and  I thought I'd tell you that I stamped on watercolor paper and used an aqua painter to move and blend the color around a little bit.

  1. I stamped the ground spot and cabin first.

2 Masked the cabin (stamped on post it paper, cut out, covered cabin)

3.Stamped the mountains with repeat stamping and overlapping till I had the I wanted.

4.Used the aqua painter to blend the color around a bit on the mountain and the ground.  If the paper        gets to wet you'll want to let it dry or as I did because I didn't want to wait, dry with the heat gun.

5.Stamped the trees - haven't taken the mask off so the trees will appear behind the cabin. I only inked      up the top of the trees Not the trunk below the branches.

6.Stamped the water with repeat stamping and over lapping with a darker blue at the bottom.       Blended  the inks with aqua painter, dried and then used a white pen to give the ripples look.

7.Stamped in the sky, then blended the color out a little leaving white spaces to look like clouds.

8.Took mask off the cabin and colored in with a marker.

9.Finished the card by Added the sentiment of my choosing in the water.  Mounted on black then colored card stock.

We'll that's it.  I hope that it's all clear if there is something you don't understand and would like to know about just leave your question/comment in the comments section and I'll get back with you.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy 50th Birthday or is it?????

Challenge 357 is a fun one and I sure had fun with this one!!!  I DID NOT follow the sketch, but did the theme!!!      Shaker Card!!!!   :0)

So it's like this, my son commissioned me to make him a card for a friend who was to be turning 50 and he wanted something specific written on it....but as it turns out he wasn't 50 this year!!!!!! he was only 48!!!!!    tee hee    Oh my talk about egg in the face... He gave it to him anyway and he loved it!              Now this card was a tri-fold card to accommodate the wording that my son wanted on it. Since it was hand delivered I didn't have to worry about the size.   keep looking I have three photos for you.

I used lots of thing to make this card so I'm not going to list them, if you are interested in something you see just leave me a comment and I'll get back with you and try to tell you what I used.  If you're needing a card sketch inspiration just check out all the designers cards by clicking HERE.
